Compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations is not only the law, it is the right thing to do. Compliance across the full spectrum of laws and regulations that apply in a higher education setting protects the university’s reputation. In contrast, violations of laws or regulations expose the institution to costly sanctions that drain precious financial resources or cause prospective faculty, staff, and students to look elsewhere to teach, work and learn. In that sense, our culture of compliance is part of our competitive advantage, so we must promote compliance in all we do. Those who do not comply with the Ethical Principles and Values may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal or termination.
